We were kindly gifted some products by Zimplikids to try out and review. For those that are unsure of what Geli Baff is - it is a powder that when added to water turns into a sensory jelly. Geli Baff is a non toxic substance so is safe to use with children.
We decided to use the product as directed on the packet - so we started by running a warm bath and adding the activation powder to the water. We stirred the water once the powder had been added and watched as the water turned into Jelly. The Geli Baff we used was tutti-fruiti scented and it smelled amazing! The whole room smelt like tutti-fruiti for ages!
Once the mixture had reached a good jelly like consistency, we put Dotty into the bath. Honestly, she didn't seem too impressed - I think this was because its a texture that she hadn't ever experienced before. She ended up pretty much just sitting there, looking a tad bewildered! Bless her! Haha. She did have a little attempt at feeling the Geli Baff and there was also an attempt to eat it, which we obviously quickly stopped from happening! Ha!
Once you have finished with the product, you then add another powder to the Geli Baff and this then dissolves the mixture so that it can go down the drain ok. It was pretty simple to clear up and left no staining within the bath which was brilliant - as the mixture was bright orange! Haha! Once everything had been washed away, I then ran another bath for Dot to wash of any residue and got her back into her comfy clothes.
I think that Dotty being so young (11 months) still, the products would have been better being used in a tuff tray or bowl. This way, they could still be used as a sensory play item without the shock of being placed into an unfamiliar substance. I will definitely be trying this approach next time as I think Dot would enjoy herself and benefit more from the activity this way.
Overall, I like the product and I think had Dotty been a bit older she would have loved having a bath full of Geli Baff! Zimplikids also do a whole range of products - including slime and other weird and wonderful products. I think that their products also would make amazing present fillers for birthdays/Christmas. I would definitely recommend giving their products a try with your children, especially the older ones as they would have a great time.
